Mermaid Spotlight: Hello Whimzy

Mermaid Spotlight: Hello Whimzy

How did you get your start?

I guess you could say I've been 'prepped' for this life ever since I was little. I always loved performing and creating. My sweet mom was my example and would always throw magical parties or creating fun memories for us growing up. I have always been on the hunt for ways to make life enchanting. After I got married, we were headed out of state for school for my hubby. I knew I would need a creative outlet so I started my own princess party company as well as created original characters of a fairy and a mermaid. (You can download the book I read at parties for free here! http://www.hellowhimzy.com/free-ebook/
I did that for four years before we moved back home. At this point I had three little guppies and not a lot of time, but still had a burning desire to be fun and whimsical. So I took my favorite mermaid character I created for parties and build a blog around the lite of a "Stay-at-Home Mermaid."

What did your first tail look like?

My first tail was not a quality tail. It was purple with gold down the middle. The monofin was actually two flippers glued together. It was also made by a less-than-reputable company that made their tails out of toxic material. (Yikes!) I had no idea at the time, but luckily got a new one quickly after. That one was a beautiful golden color made by The Mertailor. Right now, I have a Mythic Tail from Finfolk Productions and will someday own a full silicone!

What's your favorite thing to do on land?

I love spending time with my husband and kids whether we're riding horses or just watching a redbox at home.
I love throwing fun parties with my family (like a Pie Fight Party http://www.hellowhimzy.com/host-pie-fight-party/) or going to all girl dance parties with my blogger friends.

What is your favorite spot to dive and do your mermaid thing?

I'm more of what you call a land-locked mermaid. I hardly get to go swimming with three kids and all, so I have to create fun times in my tail at home. Most of my shenannigans can be found on my Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/hellowhimzy/

What's your favorite underwater animal?

I have a huge love of dolphins. I think we share the same playful nature and a curiosity to learn and experience more.

What's your favorite thing about being a mermaid?

I love the idea of never losing your "whimzy". And whimzy is that feeling you had as a kid that magic is real and all the possibilities that go with it. It's a reminder to me that you create the life you want to live. And I want to have a happy and magical life, even as an adult.

What is most important to you?

My family is absolutely the most important thing to me. Knowing I am always there for them and that I believe in them and love them eternally, is my ultimate goal in life.
